With Prestige Car Imports you can import your dream car from Japan. For us to begin the search we require a deposit of $1190 AUD. The total fee we charge will depend on the vehicles final landed and complied price.

- 12 – 16 weeks ETA from purchase at auction to driving in Australia

In Japan we can only see the vehicles coming up one-two days in advance. Different vehicles come up every day, every week. We cannot just show you photos or info as there will be different cars tomorrow and the day after that and so on. Auctions in Japan only last for 30 seconds so we need to set a max budget and stick to it.
A deposit fee of $1190 is required for me to begin trying to win a car for you at auction. The fee is not refundable, so please be ready to begin the process 100%. The balance of the fee is due once we win the car.
The fee ranges from $990 – $9990 AUD and is based on the landed and complied price of the vehicle.
Under 30k = $1190 AUD
30-60k = $1490 AUD
60-90k = $1990 AUD
90k+ = Case by case basis, max $9990 AUD for vehicles over $200,000 AUD.
Once the deposit of $1190 is paid I begin sending you the listings coming up the next day via Facebook or Whatsapp. You let me know what you like the look of and I have my team on the ground in Japan view the vehicle in person.
They will send me a full report on the condition and let me know of any modifications and issues the vehicle may have. I send this to you and I let you know how much I think we will need to win that one. You can decide to cancel any vehicle that we had viewed and didn’t come back to meet our expectation, there is no fee for this.
Once we win, the vehicle payment will be due to the auction house in Japan. Generally I have my clients send me the funds and I handle the currency transfer however you are welcome to do this if you prefer and have an FX account setup.
We then book shipping, it takes 2-3 weeks for shipping to be confirmed and booked in.
Once on the boat it takes around 3-4 weeks to arrive. Once it is about to arrive in Australia the GST, gov fees, customs and shipping is due. I then organise the tow to compliance, once finished at compliance payment is due.
In total it takes around 12-16 weeks for the vehicle to be road ready in Australia. Currently there are slight delays with shipping so it can take around 16-20 weeks in total if we get unlucky with shipping.
Payments are made in stages
Today – Pay Deposit ($1190)
Win Car – Pay for car to Japan (pay balance of fee if needed)
8-10 weeks – pay shipping, gst, customs one week before car arrives
12-16 weeks – pay compliance, roadworthy, rego and stamp duty
There are no auctions on Sundays and hardly any cars on Mondays. Tuesday – Saturday are the busiest days.
When I estimate prices, the costs not included are RWC, rego and stamp duty. These costs vary from state to state.
